MADLIB – Remix Nas vs Jay-Z (JOHN CARPENTER sample) 0

I guess the score of John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 needs no introduction… It is considered by many as Carpenters’ musical masterpiece. Numerous disco versions have been made… The Splash Band versions on ZYX were probably the best… Bomb the Bass even sampled the epic JC score. Yet I was stunned to hear Nas’ rhymes over the raw, only clap-enhanced, “End Credits” tune. Madlib revived the score… Once again.

Marcel’s Library Gems (edition 01) 2

Every now and then Marcel modestly hands over a self-made compilation cd, consisting mostly out of library music. Everyone that had the privilege of listening to them confirmed that they are as sweet as they are unique. These three tracks are some of my personal favourites from his compilations.

Big thanks to Marcel for introducing me to his wonderfull collection of library music!

Midas Touch – Modern Times

Sven Libaek & His Orchestra – Misty Canyon

Trevor Duncan & The Cavendish Orchestra – Funkrund

DABRYE – Get Dirty featuring AG (ZSA ZSA LABOUM sample) 2

Dope hiphop track with the agressive “Something Scary”-303 line from Belgian late eigthies horror/new beat outfit Zsa Zsa Laboum. I also used this track in my Submariner mix. Dabrye apparently has been doing some serious crate digging.

Zsa Zsa Laboum – Something Scary (1988)

JAY DILLA – E=MC2 (GIORGIO MORODER sample) 1

Another hiphop track that thrives on the sample of an electronic gem. Jay Dilla samples the legendary vocoder of Giorgio Moroder’s epic E=MC2… The godfather of robotised voice modulation. Guest appearence by Common… enjoy!
